A powerful abstract still life by British Painter and Printmaker, Albert C Garrett. Oil on panel, signed bottom left and further inscribed/label verso. Age related wear to the frame with the painting surface in perfect condition. There is a slight bow to the panel. The piece is in its original frame and shows a further, unfinished abstract on the reverse. The piece measures: 65cm x 95cm
Garrett was a prolific wood engraver who published an important survey of British engraving. Subsequently, most of the works that have come to market have been prints. His paintings are elusive. Albert Charles Garrett (1915-1983) was a British painter, wood engraver and writer on art. He studied at Camberwell School of Art and then at the Slade School of Fine Art. His work is held in numerous public collections including The British Museum, The V&A, Ashmolean Museum Oxford and Derby Art Gallery.
