A large and impressive ancestor painting by the Kwoma people of New Guinea. The piece is decorated with natural pigments painted onto a curved piece of Sago bark. This piece would have been one of many dozens of other designs which would collectively hang from a large, vaulted ceiling of a place of worship, community and gathering. Sepik river, Papua New Guinea. The piece dates from the early to mid 20th century.
